The event, held on Friday 16 October 2026 at the college’s Somerset Sports Centre in Ormiston, featured ensembles from across its co-curricular music program. The evening combined live music with Hollywood-inspired presentation, giving students of different ages an opportunity to perform as part of a major school concert.

Young performers share the spotlight
The gala brought together younger students and secondary school musicians, showcasing the range of talent developing within the college’s music program.
Photographs shared by Ormiston College show junior students performing in uniform, while senior performers took to the stage in their maroon blazers. Illuminated GALA lettering and stage lighting added to the Hollywood atmosphere.
The school confirmed that audiences enjoyed instrumental and choral performances throughout the event, with ensembles representing year levels from Prep through to Year 12.
The program also highlighted the work of ensemble directors and accompanists, whose preparation helped bring the performances together.
A Hollywood-inspired evening
The Hollywood theme gave the concert an extra theatrical touch, creating an occasion that went beyond a conventional school music performance.
Before the event, families were encouraged to embrace the theme with costumes, glamorous clothing or a touch of red-carpet sparkle.
The concert offered $20 table seating with individual supper boxes, alongside complimentary tiered seating. Its public ticketing page was marked sold out, indicating strong interest in the event.
The Somerset Sports Centre, located on Dundas Street West, provided the setting for the performances, with students taking the stage before an audience of families and other guests.
Music connects different year levels
One of the gala’s distinguishing features was the opportunity for students at different stages of their musical education to participate in the same event.
For younger performers, appearing alongside older school musicians provided a chance to experience a larger concert setting. Senior students, meanwhile, had an opportunity to demonstrate the skills they had developed through their involvement in the college’s music ensembles.
Ormiston College’s co-curricular music program includes opportunities for instrumental and vocal performance beyond regular classroom lessons.
The gala forms part of the school’s broader calendar of musical activities, which includes concerts and celebrations involving students at different stages of their education.
Previous gala events have similarly brought junior and senior ensembles together, allowing families to experience a range of performances during a single evening.
A celebration of the school music community
Following the October concert, Ormiston College publicly thanked the student performers, ensemble directors and accompanists involved in bringing the gala together.
The college described the event as a showcase of the talent within its co-curricular music program, highlighting the dedication of those who prepared and performed.
For families across Ormiston, Wellington Point and the surrounding Redlands community, the gala offered a look at the musical opportunities available to young people locally, from their first experiences of group performance to more advanced instrumental and choral work.
The evening also reflected the role of school music events in bringing together students, teachers and families around the shared experience of live performance.
